"The origins of the Stafford are somewhat inderterminate as the many books written by informed sources will illustrate.
Certainly theory points to it being a direct descendant of the Bulldog of the 1800's. The principal ancestors being the Old English Bulldog of the nineteenth century and the Old English Terrier long since extinct.
Without doubt one has to go well back into the nineteenth century to come across the unsavoury aspects of all Bull breeds but we have developed into something more civilised than our antecedants so have most amalgams of Bull and Terrier.
'The Stoaffords noble heritage is married only by humans who from time to time have abused to their own ends it's many admirable qualities, both before and since being recognised by The Kennel Club in 1935.
The most endearing qualities of the breed are it's undeniable courage and deep love of human beings, particularly children. Whatever a stafford may lack there is no denying it's loyalty, trustworthiness and protective instincts.
The only reservation that comes to mind is the Staffords objection to an invasion of its space or privacy by other dogs.. A bit like human beings.'
